Riversong's elven beach house

It's always nice to visit the coast, especially at night - it's serene, you hear the waves in the distance. It's very relaxing.

Located on plot 40 of Founder's Point, Riversong's house has all these features and more!

Before she arrives, I take a look around - I couldn't help admire the small lake she had built, complete with a mill! There's also a gryphon and a wyvern nesting nearby.

She meets me after a bit and I take the chance to ask her what inspired her to decorate the outside like this:

I just wanted a natural appearance and I love creating water features

That explains why she chose to live by the sea.

The amount of vegetation she's growing on this sandy hill is amazing - mostly bushes. This is erosion prevention done with style.

Walking inside...

As we walk in, I notice a few plants here and there - this was only the beginning - Riversong really likes natural features. The corridor was narrowed using and to create windows to the "outside" that she decorated using the trusty .

The living room

She leads me to the living room where I can see more plants - this must take ages to water and prune!

There's a guest bathroom to the left, some stairs spiraling up, a fireplace with a sofa made up mostly of various pillows with two doors on the corner.

I really love how cozy the living room feels - especially the sofa. It seems to be made up of a , a couple of and a ton of , and .

There are numerous candles to one side. Hold on: Candles. Plants. Dead leaves. I'm sure there's some fire-retardant spells. Right?

The kitchen

As I enter the kitchen, my host mentions she's not very happy with it, and that she needs more decor.

Look at all the colours!

My eyes are immediately drawn to the strange angle that the kitchen has - it definitely gives it more personality!

Furthermore the colouring of the furniture is definitely something I don't see often. I tend to prefer the wood colouring and patterns but the and the tones really work!

My guide beckons me out...

The next room is one of my favourites: it's the games room and bar

Did she say games?

A gamer bar

Riversong pulls me through one of those "outside" corridors (this time beach-themed) and into her Games Room.

This room looks nothing like the other rooms - it's built inside the Daylight Skybox room, manually, out of , and similar decor. Looking up, I can spot some windows made out of which remind me of that time I sneaked onto a goblin ship's cargo hold to get to Ratchet... but uhm... lets not get into that.

The room greets you with a lavish table, full of snacks. Again, the room is full of plants and before I fully take a look at all the different bushes, I'm quickly led up the stairs, where I spot a well stocked pandaren-themed food bar and... a Table Tennis Table! I've never seen one of those.

There's a reading nook just behind the stairs that take you up to the top floor mezzanine. It looks like a very quiet spot, away from the sounds of the paddles hitting the table tennis balls, where you can read a book, glance at the beach outside and breathe in the sea air.

Moving up the stairs, we arrive to a tabletop gaming area. There's comfortable seating for everybody, fruit and a coffee machine for those long sessions!

I try not to touch anything on the table - it looks like they're in the middle of a campaign.

Before I "inspect the coffee machine", Riversong asks me if I want to look at the upstairs - and I could never say no to seeing more house!

Climbing the spiral stairs

The stairs are fairly narrow, but we manage to ascend to the top floor of the house - I didn't even trip! The landing area has a view to the outside - a very common theme throughout this house - and doors to the guest and Riversong's master bedroom.

The guest room

The guest bedroom is very small, there's just enough space for a bed and some bookshelves. While inspecting one of them, it moves - Riversong says this is a secret mage room, still a bit in progress.

I hear "mage" and "in progress" - I know what that means - I've got a mage housemate - it means it's time to leave before something weird happens.

The master bedroom

The first thing I notice as I walk into my tour guide's room is the very large gryphon, just chilling in the corner. I'm told that he's a good boy. I think a Wildhammer would agree that this not only improves the room but makes it safer.

The gryphon definitely distracted me from the rest of the room, and as I look around, I notice it: the room is filled with - you guessed it - plants! There's even a tree! You never really miss the outside.

I look to my right and I see the coziest bed - built within the wooden wall, its floor lined with a mattress and filled with a generous amount of pillows.

On the other end of the room, there's a hall taking you to the room's private bathroom - with a bathtub and built-in shower.

The water's still running!

Walking to the end of the corridor takes you to her own private balcony that overlooks the beach.

A private balcony

Night time is upon us but it only makes Riversong's balcony all the more magical.

In front there's a telescope to look at the stars. I look up to admire the beautiful star- wait... are those... are those spaceships?! They moved too fast for me to take a picture, but I think my virtual tour companion got them - just look up.

To the left, there's an easel. I think this explains all the paintings in the hallway.

To the right, there's a seating corner. The perfect place to ask Riversong a few questions.

Sitting down for a chat

Listening to the waves, illuminated mostly by the White Lady, I start by asking Riversong about where did she draw inspiration from.

My host explains that the house's theme was to blend the outside of the plot with the house. That's why there are so many windows to the exterior, where we clearly see beach and ocean themes and why there is so much use of skybox rooms (and plenty of fake skies using ).

Dosaki: Where do you usually find inspiration for your creations?

Riversong: I watch a lot of youtube videos and housetours.

Dosaki: I'm amazed at your creativity. Do you have any future plans or are you happy with how it is?

Riversong: I'm slowly adding as I get more decor. This house is level 7 now so it will get better as the levels go up. I want to create another outdoor room at some point.

Dosaki: You are very good at these outdoor rooms.

Riversong: I can do them in very little time really: The Games Room took me around 6-7 hours. This one took me about 2 hours.

Dosaki: Wow. I guess practice makes perfect.

Dosaki: Thinking of the whole house - how long do you think you spent? Including the outside?

Riversong: I would say a week in total.

Dosaki: It's impressive for a week's worth of work! I mean - it's impressive for any length of time's worth of work, honestly!

Riversong: Yeah but I love to do it: I find it relaxing. I love playing The Sims so being able to make a house in WoW is amazing!

I ask Riversong how much gold she spent in the house.

She laughs.

Riversong: Too much! I would say about 700,000 . I bought the decor outright off the Auction House and vendors. In this house I've used 118 beams.

Dosaki: And how many rugs?

Riversong: 126.

Dosaki: Those rug makers must be making a killing!

Riversong: I know, I just wish you could make them bigger.

Dosaki: Yeah and square - It's tough to make stuff with edges.

Advice

Just be yourself and do what you want to do.

I find it relaxing but other players should do too: if you find you are struggling to do something, just find an easier way of doing it. Don't stress.

We are all here to have fun!

It's just practice, every build I do is better than the last.

Well said!

I'll see you on the next tour!
